Dear Jenny, I would be very grateful if you or someone in your office could help me with the following problem: I am completing a Master's in Special Ed with the Open University and am basing my research project on Circle Time. My proposal is: Will the introduction of regular Circle Time (help) improve the playground behaviour of a class of year 4 boys?
The sub questions are: 1. Will the boys' involvement in drawing up "Golden Football Rules" during circle time give a sense of ownership and thereby encourage them to interact with each other more positively during play?
2. Will improved playground behaviour impact positively on their classroom behaviour and learning?
I have "Quality Circle Time" and "Turn your school Round." Is there any other text that you would recommend? Where would I access other peoples' research for the discussion section of the report? Regards, Anne McCarry.
Hopefully people will come forward and offer their words of wisdom here on this topic which will help you with your research!
However, in the mean time, you will find some research papers and abstracts on this website in the "Research and Reports" section. Many of the theses mentioned here are held at Bristol University where Jenny taught a Masters course. Also, it is worth looking in our website "Questions and Answers" section.
Anyway, like I said, I hope that people come forward with suggestions for you. Jenny and the team are always interested in seeing pieces of research once they are completed so do send a copy or abstract in once you have finished it if you feel so inclined!
Very best of luck with your work Zara
