We are just starting to look at implementing some of the playground srategies from the Jenny Moseley model. Does anyone have any good ideas for activities for craze of the week. We have thought of the obvious things like skipping and hoops but are after any other ideas.
I have spoken to Jenny and she says that there are lots of ideas for Craze of the week - try hopscotch, skipping, clapping games, jacks, French skipping and hula hoops. The book "Positive Playtimes" by Jenny Mosley and Georgia Thorp gives more ideas. On page 120 there is a lovely list of more traditional playground games that might inspire your children. There is a table of wet playtime games on page 114 - including stilts, big hand tennis, soft balls, drafts and quizzes. There is a section about Craze of the Week on pages 79 - which includes bean bags and bats and balls. I hope this gives you a few more ideas. Perhaps other readers can contribute more ideas for our list? The Positive Playtimes book (formerly called All Year Round) is available from the website shop if you are interested.
Very best wishes for your crazes, and good luck with your other playground strategies too! Zara Niwano
